With a total length of about 90 km, the network of paths Taygetos Trails covers a large part of the northern area of the central-eastern Taygetos, crossing and connecting 14 lowland and mountain villages. The mountain villages decline over time as the tourist flow is channeled to the lowlands, such as Mystras and Pikoulianika, where new tourist units are being created today, even of high standards.
As a whole, the villages are characterised by their traditional architecture and their picturesque character. At the same time, each one of them maintains its uniqueness offering different attractions and activity options. Access to them is easy and through the paths of the network tours can be organised between them.
The mountain villages have to offer the impressive nature that surrounds them with the peaks of Taygetos above 2,000 m. such as Spanakaki (2,024 m.) and Neraidovouna (2,032 m.). The whole area of about 77 sq. km. is a mountain paradise as the visitor can enjoy beyond nature, a large network of paths that address all categories of mountaineers almost throughout the year.
